6 months down!

It's hard to believe I am 6 months pregnant today! Although March 23 (the day we found out we were pregnant) seems like FOREVER ago, I can't believe that we will be meeting our baby girl in only 3 months! Volleyball is in full swing, school starts Monday, and Young Life will be starting up very soon- keeping me very busy while we wait for the next 3 months to pass by! Despite how busy I am, I feel like I have really had plenty of down time to rest. Esteban has been such a loving and supportive husband, even helping coach volleyball! It has been a lot of fun to work together and for him to experience my world at Meadowcreek High School.

My last doctor's appointment went great! I actually didn't have to do the glucose test, they wanted to wait until I was a little further along. My blood pressure and weight are good and our baby girl sounds great as well. I have still had occasional headaches, but the doctor assured me that it was fine and even encouraged me to drink a little caffeine to help them go away. My next appointment is Friday, August 28- which will be my lucky day to take the glucose test. Please pray for continued health for me and for our baby girl to continue to grow, develop and remain healthy! Thanks for all your prayers and love!

Sweet Friends

This past weekend was so much fun and full of hanging out with sweet friends. We had my dear friend Natalie's baby shower Saturday afternoon and then Esteban and I headed to Knoxville Saturday night through Monday to hang out with my college roomate, Britney, her boyfriend (Matt) and her family.
Natalie's due date was August 31, but she actually had her sweet baby girl tonight (Friday, July 31)!!! Both are healthy and doing great! I wanted to get these pictures up because I'm sure I will be posting some pictures of Natalie's baby girl soon! So glad we got a few pregnancy pictures together!!! I can't wait for our daughters to be friends in a few months!
Above are a few pictures of Natalie and I with our belly's, some of the girls from the shower and Esteban and I with Matt and Britney at Calhoun's- Este's favorite BBQ resturant!
We go to the doctor again Monday- I have my one hour glucose test. Please pray that everything goes well with that. Like I have said a million times, I am so thankful for such a great pregnancy so far and pray that everything continues to go smoothly! I pray that everything remains healthy with me and our sweet baby girl and that she waits until full term before we get to meet her!
I start pre-planning and volleyball try-outs next Wednesday and school starts August 10th. I am thankful for the 3 days to adjust some before I start a full week of school and practice. I am so thankful Esteban is helping with volleyball and the girls are so loving and understanding that I am not able to do much (physically) at practice.
Thank you for all your continued prayers, love and support!

Baby Bump

I have been bad about taking pictures lately, so I stole a few from Facebook to show off the baby bump a little. Our family had a going away party for my brother, Mike, Sunday night (he is headed to Boise State for college/football). Here are a few pictures from the party... Esteban and I getting a quick pic at the end of the night.

I'm "helping" to cut the cake...really because I was dying to have a piece :)
Hopefully, I will get some better pictures soon!!

Great Appointment

*Disclaimer: Sorry if there are any type-o's... I still have a bit of a migraine, but I am also so restless so typing while seeing occassional spots could cause some errors!

Yesterday we went to the doctor for our 20 week appointment. We almost didn't go because I had a terrible migraine and even threw up a few times right before we left (I haven't thrown up since middle school so I was pretty bummed my streak had come to an end).

Thankfully the ultrasound rooms are nice and dark so I felt great, and seeing our baby girl made me feel even better! I am not too good about remembering all the numbers, but she is doing great! She weighs 12oz (the nurse said to picture a coke can), heartbeat and all other measurements were great. Baby girl didn't want us to see her face, even put her arms across her face like an "X." We were able to get one good profile shot and some cute pictures of her feet and heads. Due to her shyness, we will get another ultrasound in 4 weeks to get those measurements. It is always so amazing to see her on the screen and to hear that she is doing great! The Lord has been so great to us and I pray He continues to bless us all throughout this pregnancy. God has taught me a whole new meaning of trust through this pregnancy. I can't see her all the time and I have to trust that I am eating right and taking care of myself as I should be and even more, I have to trust that the Lord is in control and has His hand on my body and our baby girl. Movement is still very light, but she is looking great so no worries for this mama!

After the ultrasound I was seeing spots in my eyes and my head was pounding, I was thankful the doctor was in for a total of 2 minutes. My heartbeat and weight gain are great. Esteban took me to Panera (which always makes me happy) and then we went home. I went straight to bed and he got to work on some rearranging and organizing around the house. We are waiting for an extra piece to come in so we can finish putting the bookcase together...I have already collected a few things to put on it! The dresser should be coming in this week and comes assembled! The crib is up and beautiful! Can't wait to get everything together so we can take some pictures for you all to see! I love the furniture we picked out and how everything is coming together so nicely.

We went to Babys R Us Monday to register, trying to get as much done now while we have the time (once school, volleyball, and Young Life pick up we will busy until she arrives). We had a lot of fun and to Esteban's surprise it didn't take too long. We went online once we got home to play around with it some more, they offer a lot more online then in the store. We also registered for a few things at Target online as well. Great to check that off the list!

I am so thankful for being a teacher and having this time in the summer to get so much done! I don't like to sit still too much (except for days like yesterday and today when I have a migraine). The baby is definitely helping me relax more. Soon, I am going to have to start getting ready for the school year...AHHH!!! Volleyball open gyms start the 23rd and teachers go back August 1st! It has been a great summer, but seems like the end is creeping up to quickly!

Thanks for all your love and prayers! Our next appointment is August 7th- ultrasound at 2:30pm and then I have a 1 hour appointment for the glucose test (pray that goes well!)

Half Way There!

Yesterday we were officially 20 weeks/5 months, half way through the pregnancy! Honestly, this pregnancy has been amazing so far and I am so thankful for that!!! No morning sickness or other major issues. My sciatic nerve hurts a lot, but something I can deal with.

We had a great time in California with Esteban's family and visiting a little with sweet friends. Esteban got to be a part of the Student Leadership Project through Fuller Seminary and had a great time with it! It is great to be home and slowly starting to prepare for our sweet baby girl! We ordered our baby furniture through JC Penny during their 4th of July sale (great savings!) and already got it in...we have been putting it together today! It is beautiful...pictures to come soon. I will also have to post a new belly picture. I think I have officially passed the "she could be pregnant or just bloated" to "she's pregnant" look. It's crazy how much my belly has grown recently! Since we were gone for a few weeks, my family and friends at home were excited to see how much bigger I've gotten.

I promise to get pictures up soon. Now that things are progressing, hopefully I will have more excitement to update more often! Esteban and I love being able to share this pregnancy with you all and thankful that you are excited to be a part of it with us!

Since this is a big milestone time, I thought I'd fill out the survey again...
How far along?
20 weeks, 1 day

Total weight gain/loss: umm I haven't been tracking too well, I think I've gained somewhere around 10 pounds...

Maternity clothes? I can no longer fit into any "normal" pants, skirts or shorts that I had. I have been fortunate to find a lot of dresses and skirts I can wear now and when I am not pregnant as well. I don't know how big I am going to get so I am still slowly getting maternity clothes.

Stretch marks? Nope, hopefully it will stay that way.

Sleep: My body reminds me that it's working extra hard right now so I definitely need to rest a lot more...I am actually so tired at night that I usually sleep through the night! I start out sleeping on one side with pillows all over, but usually wake up sleeping on my back.

Best moment this week: Getting home after being gone for 3 weeks, getting the baby furniture in, feeling her kick (she still doesn't move a ton yet, so I love when I get to feel her move)

Movement: Yes, still feels "fluttery" but getting stronger

Food cravings: I realized that almost the entire first trimester I always wanted Mexican food, now I crave healthy food, Italian food and sometimes sweets (I'm not a huge sweets person, just need a little fix every now and then)

Gender prediction: It's a GIRL!

Labor Signs: None, not for a loooooooooong time!

Belly Button in or out: In, but getting more shallow

Wedding rings on or off: Try to wear it as much as I can, especially in public, but between my fingers swelling a little because of summer & pregnancy and washing my hands so much I've developed really dry skin under my ring...not wearing my ring for a few days helps it go away...I hate not wearing it, but not too much I can do about that.

What I miss eating: Publix subs...trying to stay away from deli meat

What I'm looking forward to: officially deciding on her name, we have the first name but not 100% on the middle name yet, getting the nursery together and registering in the next few weeks/months

Weekly Wisdom: Same as last time- Drink lots of water and stay active! I need to do a better job of getting exercise in everyday, napping seems to take priority these days.

Wiggling Baby

Hope all is well with everyone. Esteban and I are in California now through the beginning of July. Esteban is doing his assignment for Young Life out here, he is actually a leader for the Student Leadership Project through Fuller Seminary. It is a really neat opportunity for him and he is loving it! (The program is for rising high school seniors.) I am hanging out with his parents and enjoying time with them and being able to relax and rest. I think I am still on east coast time, because I wake up at 6 am every morning... it has been so sweet because I have been able to use that time to spend in the word and writing in my journal. I'm excited to head up to Santa Barbara on Sunday to hang out with our good friends the Sugano's and hang out with their little girls a bit.

I am starting to feel our sweet baby GIRL wiggling around more now, which means she is growing! It started on Saturday and has gotten a little more frequent each day! It is so much fun to feel her and picture her wiggling around... also makes it more and more real! My stomach is slowly getting a bigger. I have started to venture into maternity clothes, but I have been able to find a lot of dresses and skirts that I can wear now and after I have the baby as well! (Target and Old Navy have been the best luck so far.)

Esteban and I are starting to get ideas for her nursery and I am excited to get started on that when we get back home! Thanks for all your prayers, everything has been so great so far and we really feel so blessed! We go back to the doctor July 14th for my 20 week ultrasound and check up! I'm getting spoiled with all these ultrasounds! :)

Sweet Surprises!

Let me go ahead with the news and then I will tell the story...we found out today that we are having a baby GIRL!!!!

We were suppose to have a regular appointment at 8:30am today, with no ultrasound. When I got the confirmation voicemail for the appointment, it also said we had one at 3:00 and 3:30pm for an ultrasound and physical with the doctor. I called and the nurses didn't know who set me up for that appointment...I wanted to say "I'll take that one so I can see the baby and maybe find out the sex." So we get to the appointment this morning and the doctor took my blood pressure and all that and everything is good. Then she got this little hand-held device to listen to the baby's heart beat. We could hear movement, but she couldn't find the heartbeat. After about a minute the doctor said, "Looks like you get an ultrasound today!" I could hardly control myself, knowing we could find out what our precious baby is!!!

I was so excited we got our favorite ultrasound tech, Mary. She found the heartbeat right away and everything was good! The baby was in a little ball, which is why they had a hard time finding the heartbeat on the little device. After getting the baby to move around a bit, Mary told us she knew what it was, but asked Esteban if he had siblings and what they were (since the male determines the sex)....when he said he was the middle of three boys she said "Well you get to give your mom the first granddaughter!" Then Mary showed us on the screen and then turned on the light and showed us a picture of a boy vs. a girl ultrasound, which made it more confirming for us!

So that's my long story...but it was such a sweet day! Esteban and I called her parents right away, got some Chic-fil-a breakfast and then did a little browsing at Babys R Us! We are so excited to say "her" and "our daughter" now! It has been so much fun to share this joy and excitment with our family and dear friends. The Lord has been so faithful to us and I am on cloud nine right now! I am so thankful to still be feeling great and that everything is good with the baby and I.

Love you guys and can't wait to update more soon!
